The Popular Muir Woods & Sausalito Tour with Return by Ferry.
Travel north in style, on a comfortable, air conditioned vehicle, across the Golden Gate Bridge, the icon of San Francisco, and through our picturesque coastal headlands into one of the oldest national monuments.
Nestled at the foot of Mount Tamalpais is Muir Woods National Monument, one of the remaining groves of first growth coastal redwoods. The woods were named for John Muir, a 19th century naturalist who was instrumental in establishing the National Park system.
Muir Woods is made up of over 560 acres of redwood forest containing the largest Coast redwoods, up to 252 feet tall and 14 feet across, 1000 years old! Wander through this grove of virgin Redwoods and capture photo opportunities like you’ve rarely experienced. The park is home to 50 species of birds, black-tailed deer, steelhead trout and hundreds of other wild inhabitants.
Then travel on to picturesque Sausalito which was once a fishing village and now a tiny bayside community. Quaint Victorian bungalows are built into the steep hillside and a variety of waterfront restaurants, boutiques and small art galleries line the downtown shopping district. Sausalito has a Mediterranean appeal that is often compared to the French Riviera. There you’ll have time for shopping, photos or a bit of exploring long the waterfront of this unique town, with its old world charm and breathtaking views of the Bay and San Francisco skyline.
Take your time exploring Sausalito, you will receive your one-way ferry ticket and ferry schedule at check in to take the 25-minute cruise back to San Francisco.
*Entrance fee for Muir Woods is included.
